They are&nbsp;seeking an occupational therapist to join their <strong>Competency Assessor <\/strong>team.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Competency Assessor<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>All <strong>internationally educated occupational therapists<\/strong> (&ldquo;IEOTs&rdquo;) who wish to work as an occupational therapist in Canada must first complete the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acotro-acore.org\/seas\/\" title=\"Substantial Equivalency Assessment System\" target=\"_blank\" data-sf-ec-immutable=\"\">Substantial Equivalency Assessment System<\/a><\/strong>(&ldquo;SEAS&rdquo;)<br \/>\nprogram. SEAS is a single, centralized process for the assessment of educational qualifications and competencies of IEOTs. SEAS determines whether the education and competencies of IEOTs are substantially equivalent to Canadian-educated occupational therapists.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>SEAS Competency Assessors <\/strong>conduct interview-style competency assessments with IEOTs and prepare necessary competency reports.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assessments comprise an estimated 6.5-hour one-on-one interview, along with some preparatory activities and post-assessment<br \/>\n    reporting. <\/li>\n<li>Currently the assessments are being conducted remotely. <\/li>\n<li>Assessors typically complete 1&ndash;4 assessments per month, or more depending on need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The successful candidate will be provided with in-depth training. The assessors are also supported by the SEAS staff, a variety of resources and competency assessment development.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top:40px;\">Position Qualifications<\/h3>\n<p>All assessors must meet the following qualifications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have practiced as an occupational therapist in Canada for a minimum of seven years.<\/li>\n<li>hold seven years unrestricted OT registration in Canada.<\/li>\n<li>hold a current certificate of registration with the college in their jurisdiction with no terms, limits or conditions.<\/li>\n<li>have no prior history with a regulatory body that resulted in a decision made by the regulatory body or representing committee other than a decision to take no action.<\/li>\n<li>be current with provincial regulatory College&#8217;s quality assurance\/continuing competence requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top:40px;\">Required Skills<\/h3>\n<p>All <strong>Competency Assessment Assessors <\/strong>will demonstrate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>exceptional interviewing and assessment skills<\/li>\n<li>ability to follow a standardized process<\/li>\n<li>solid understanding of professional standards of practice and applicable legislation and regulations<\/li>\n<li>exceptional written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>extensive experience in report-writing<\/li>\n<li>solid understanding of principles of fairness, impartiality, objectivity and transparency<\/li>\n<li>solid skills in critical thinking, objective non-biased reasoning and applying standard criteria<\/li>\n<li>attention to detail and analytical skills<\/li>\n<li>asset &ndash; experience in a variety of OT areas<em> (e.g. &ndash; geriatrics, mental health, etc.)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>asset &ndash; experience working with new graduates<em> (e.g. &ndash; placement supervisor, team lead)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top:40px;\">General<\/h3>\n<p>ACOTRO is committed to creating a positive, inclusive, and barrier-free environment&nbsp;where everyone, from any background, can do their best work.
