Every health regulatory college has its own legal framework for governing its profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn about the provincial legislation that has an impact on the practice of occupational therapy in Ontario, the regulations that occupational therapy professionals must follow, and the most current bylaws of the College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"content-section-block has-fade-in-up  align wp-block-acf-content-section\" id=\"section-legislation\">\n    <div class=\"section-header \">\n        <h2>Legislation<\/h2>\n            <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"content-section\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-laws.gov.on.ca\/html\/statutes\/english\/elaws_statutes_91n32_e.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><em>Occupational Therapy Act, 1991<\/em>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<em>Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991<\/em>&nbsp;(RHPA) determine how the occupational therapy profession is regulated in Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Occupational Therapy Act, 1991<\/em>&nbsp;contains a scope of practice statement, as well as provisions and regulations specific to the occupational therapy profession. It includes entry-to-practice and title protection regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991<\/em>&nbsp;contains provisions regarding permitted actions and processes that are applicable to all regulated health professionals in Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/91r18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991<\/a><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/91r18\">&nbsp;(RHPA)<\/a><br><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/91o33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Occupational Therapy Act, 1991<\/a><\/em><br><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/96h02\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Health Care Consent Act, 1996<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/04p03\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004&nbsp;<\/a><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/04p03\">(PHIPA)<\/a><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"content-section-block has-fade-in-up  align wp-block-acf-content-section\" id=\"section-regulations\">\n    <div class=\"section-header \">\n        <h2>Regulations<\/h2>\n            <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"content-section\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>Regulations that govern the occupational therapy profession are made under both the&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/91r18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/91o33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Occupational Therapy Act, 1991<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/regulation\/190474\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ontario Regulation 474\/19: Controlled Acts<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/regulation\/960226\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ontario Regulation 226\/96: General<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/regulation\/070095\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ontario Regulation 95\/07: Professional Misconduct<\/a><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"content-section-block has-fade-in-up  align wp-block-acf-content-section\" id=\"section-bylaws\">\n    <div class=\"section-header \">\n        <h2>Bylaws<\/h2>\n            <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"content-section\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>The College\u2019s bylaws are the rules that govern how the College operates.
