The Committee Competency Framework builds upon the idea of the Board competency framework. In addition to ensuring representation of the optimal skills, expertise, and experiences, committees need to reflect the diverse populations that use occupational therapy services in Ontario. This diversity includes culture, gender, race, age, geographical setting, and practice setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on best practices at other regulatory bodies and in consultation with program managers and staff, the following specific experience, knowledge and skills are recommended for each of the College\u2019s regulatory and Board committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
Lived experience accommodating or navigating a spectrum of physical, mental health, or cognitive abilities, the knowledge of which can enhance relevant, thoughtful decisions that protect the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Knowledge and experience of the standards of practice and professional ethics that guide occupational therapy practice in Ontario and be able to determine where a breach or potential breach might occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Knowledge and experience of participating in and\/or chairing hearings within a legislative framework, and an understanding of administrative law principles and procedural fairness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Experience in professional and academic writing and editing.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Lived experience of an impairment or functional limitation that reduces full involvement in society because of barriers faced. Lived experience of these barriers can enhance thoughtful decisions that protect the public. (Accessible Canada Act, 2019) <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Significant personal experience or experience caring for someone with health challenges or maneuvering through the healthcare system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Understands the standards of practice, competencies, and scope of practice that guide occupational therapy practice in Ontario and be able to determine where a breach or potential breach might occur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Knowledge of the healthcare system, as well as practice and industry specific understanding. Experience in professional and academic writing and editing. <\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Knowledge and understanding of financial processes, accounting and reporting and internal control principles. Membership includes at least 1 CPA or equivalent financial expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Knowledge and experience of business management practices.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Understand how governance works, how committee should function, and be able to think critically about committee structures and practices.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
