The session provided an opportunity for the Board to further their knowledge and share perspectives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Managing risks is a fundamental responsibility of the College as it works to regulate the profession of occupational therapy in the public interest. Ensuring the College understands the risks it faces, and the plans in place to control, mitigate, avoid, or transfer these risks appropriately is an important oversight responsibility of the Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Learn more about the role of the Board of Directors.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Board adopted the new Competencies for Occupational Therapists, 2021<\/em> for use and implementation at the College. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The new Competencies were developed with guidance from occupational therapists and key stakeholders across Canada and through the collaborative work of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists, the Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy Regulatory Organizations, and the Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy University Programs,<\/p>\n\n\n\n The goal was to develop a single set of competencies that would clarify occupational therapy as a profession in Canada, ultimately advancing safe, effective, and ethical patient care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All occupational therapists in Ontario will be held to the new Competencies as of November 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Review the new Competences for Occupational Therapists, 2021.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Board approved the proposed practice resource to address the request from the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario related to the dangers of power recliner lift chairs for individuals with cognitive decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The new resource will be available online under the Standards and Resources section later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n View College Standards and Resources.<\/a> Recognizing the ongoing need for physical distancing during the pandemic, the Board meeting was held virtually.
