{"id":6265,"date":"2025-05-22T17:13:39","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T21:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/?p=6265"},"modified":"2025-05-27T14:10:32","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T18:10:32","slug":"changes-affecting-remote-services-for-clients-and-ots-in-bc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/news-articles\/changes-affecting-remote-services-for-clients-and-ots-in-bc\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes Affecting Remote Services for Clients and OTs in BC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Effective May 22, 2025, Ontario occupational therapists no longer need to be registered in British Columbia (BC) to provide remote (virtual) services to British Columbia residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, occupational therapists registered in British Columbia can now provide remote services to clients located in Ontario without having to register with COTO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current registrants in Ontario who are also registered in British Columbia will be contacted by COTO regarding this change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Providing Remote (Virtual) Services Across Jurisdictions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>COTO signed and adopted the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ACOTRO-MOU-Cross-Jurisdictional-Remote-Practice-in-Occupational-Therapy-in-Canada-Revised-May-21-2025.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ACOTRO-MOU-Cross-Jurisdictional-Remote-Practice-in-Occupational-Therapy-in-Canada-Revised-May-21-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Memorandum of Understanding on Cross-Jurisdiction Remote Practice<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under this agreement, occupational therapists registered in Ontario who want to provide remote services to clients located in <strong>British Columbia, Manitoba<\/strong>, <strong>New Brunswick<\/strong>, <strong>Newfoundland and Labrador<\/strong>, <strong>Nova Scotia<\/strong>, and <strong>Prince Edward Island <\/strong>are permitted to do so under their Ontario registration.
