Knowledgeable consent emphasizes the importance of clients knowing what is happening with their personal health information. <\/p>\n\n\n\nKnowledgeable consent under PHIPA<\/strong> means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- As the occupational therapist you are asking permission and obtaining the client\u2019s agreement, that you as the occupational therapist, clinic, or organization are allowed to collect, use, or share their personal health information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- To obtain knowledgeable consent, the following should be explained to the client:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
\n- What<\/strong> personal health information is being collected or shared,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Who<\/strong> the personal health information is being shared with,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
