{"id":8145,"date":"2026-03-05T15:23:56","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T20:23:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/?p=8145"},"modified":"2026-03-05T15:23:57","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T20:23:57","slug":"share-your-perspective-as-employers-of-internationally-educated-ots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/news-articles\/share-your-perspective-as-employers-of-internationally-educated-ots\/","title":{"rendered":"Share Your Perspective as Employers of Internationally Educated OTs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acotro-acore.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/acotro-acore.org\/\">Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy Regulatory Organizations<\/a> <\/strong>(ACOTRO) has embarked on a three-year project to enhance the <strong>Substantial Equivalency Assessment System <\/strong>(SEAS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SEAS conducts the foreign credential recognition process for internationally educated occupational therapists (IEOTs) who wish to work in Canada and plays a critical role in supporting workforce entry and ensuring practice readiness across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acotro-acore.org\/seas\/seas-is-being-enhanced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learn more about the SEAS initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACOTRO is currently seeking<strong>&nbsp;employer input to ensure that SEAS enhancements reflect&nbsp;real-world practice expectations, workforce needs, and employer experiences&nbsp;<\/strong>with IEOT readiness and integration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you are an&nbsp;employer of occupational therapists,<\/strong>&nbsp;including managers, clinical leaders, clinician mentors, or HR professionals who have hired or supervised IEOTs,&nbsp;<strong>your insights are important to help inform the SEAS enhancement project.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employers who express interest may be invited to participate in activities such as:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Focus groups or interviews\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Surveys or targeted consultations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested, please fill out&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/cyAZKN0u7t\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">this form<\/a>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Friday, March 20th, 2026&nbsp;<\/strong>and include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your role (e.g., manager, clinical lead, clinician mentor, HR, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your name and contact information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Province or territory of practice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice setting (e.g., hospital, community, private practice, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice area (e.g., pediatrics, adults, geriatrics, mental health, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participation is voluntary, and all information collected will be used solely for the SEAS enhancement project. Participants will be selected to ensure representation across jurisdictions and practice settings.
