{"id":870,"date":"2013-03-01T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-03-01T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/live-coto.pantheonsite.io\/?post_type=hearing&#038;p=870"},"modified":"2024-11-25T16:19:21","modified_gmt":"2024-11-25T21:19:21","slug":"hina-arora-2014","status":"publish","type":"hearing","link":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/hearing\/hina-arora-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Hina Arora (2014)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n<div class=\"content-section-block has-fade-in-up  align wp-block-acf-content-section\" id=\"section-summary\">\n    <div class=\"section-header \">\n        <h2>Summary<\/h2>\n            <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"content-section\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>In March 2013, Ms. Hina Arora was referred to the Discipline Committee for allegations related to a third party occupational therapy assessment (the &#8220;Assessment&#8221;) and report completed by Ms. Arora in January 2011. Ms. Arora had failed to obtain adequate evidence of information to support her conclusions, had failed to administer and score a test accurately, and failed to link the results of the test to the complainant&#8217;s subjective complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Ms. Arora&#8217;s report:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>failed to identify a list of functional complaints noted by the complainant,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>failed to adequately reference documentation from the complainant&#8217;s treating professionals,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>failed to address discrepancies in her objective findings compared with those reported by the client,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>failed to address the reported fluctuations in function due to pain,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>failed to document her rationale for her opinions and recommendations,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>contained inconsistencies, inaccuracies and deficiencies that could have affected the reasonableness of her conclusions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, Ms. Arora had failed to maintain professional boundaries with the complainant and made unprofessional and disparaging remarks during the assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Arora agreed to the facts of the case. At the conclusion of the hearing on May 20, 2014, a panel of the discipline Committee ordered a penalty which included the following: a reprimand, a two month suspension which would be shortened by one month if Ms. Arora successfully completed the other terms of the Order, namely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The successful completion of the ProBE (Professional\/Problem-based Ethics) course, within twelve (12) months of the date of the Panel&#8217;s order;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If Ms. Arora returns to occupational therapy practice then for the first three months of practice, she must practise only with the assistance of a practise monitor;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ms. Arora must complete a behavior based-interview (BBI) and chart review by a College peer assessor within three months of the practise monitoring; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ms. Arora may not supervise occupational therapy students, provisional practising certificate holders or temporary certificate holders for two years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Ms. Arora was ordered to pay the College costs in the amount of $1,500.00.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"advanced_seo_description":"","jetpack_seo_html_title":"","jetpack_seo_noindex":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-870","hearing","type-hearing","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/hearing\/870","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/hearing"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/hearing"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/hearing\/870\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":902,"href":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/hearing\/870\/revisions\/902"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.coto.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=870"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
